It's been months since there were any substantial updates on the XFL, but that changes next week when the 8 cities participating in the 2020 season are unveiled.

"The wait is almost over," the football organization tweeted on Thursday. "This coming Wednesday, Dec. 5, we unveil our eight cities and the venues we will play in for our inaugural season in 2020."

In case you somehow missed it, Vince McMahon announced back in January that he was once again attempting to launch a football league.

The only location known to be of interest for the league at this point is Orlando. WWE’s Senior Vice President of Special Events John Saboor reportedly contacted Orlando’s executive director of venues about the prospect of putting a team in Camping World Stadium.

That same article mentioned it might be difficult to land a team in Orlando, however, because Charlie Ebersol’s league Alliance of American Football — which kicks off one year before the XFL does — has already confirmed they will have a team in Orlando.

Wednesday's announcement will be streamed live on XFL.com.
