Vince McMahon's XFL once again seems to be shutting down, as the company has suspended day-to-day operations and laid off nearly all of its staff due to the coronavirus pandemic.

ESPN reports operations were suspended Friday morning and there are no plans to resume things in 2021. Since the decision was announced internally, multiple employees from the league have taken to social media to confirm their departures.

XFL's return was announced in 2018 to give the league two years to prepare for the first game in 2020. The season finally began on February 8 and was well-received by sports fans. Unfortunately, XFL was forced to cancel their return season this year in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.

No official statement has been made by the team at this time.
