WWE has confirmed there will be no launch this year for the next game in the WWE 2K series.

During an investors call on Thursday regarding first quarter earnings, it was asked if WWE2K was in the budget for 2020.

WWE interim CFO Frank Riddick replied saying there would not be a launch of a new game this year.

The company's last offering in the series WWE2K20 was panned by gamers and littered with glitches that have yet to be fully fixed. This was likely due to the last minute split between 2K and long-time developer of WWE games Yuke's.

Earlier this month, a former developer on WWE games released a video on YouTube claiming WWE2K21 had been cancelled and that a different type of game may be on the way. Unfortunately, there was no word on the call regarding the release of another type of game at this time.

UPDATE: WWE Games says they'll have an announcement Monday at 7am PT regarding the future of the franchise, as well as "some exciting news."
