Kota Ibushi won both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships in the main event of Night 1 of Wrestle Kingdom 15.
The Golden Star defeated defending double champion Tetsuya Naito in a thrilling match, and walked away from the Tokyo Dome with two belts in hand.
Naito did not go down without a fight, and had to hit three Kamigoyes before he could cover him for the win.
In case you missed it, Ibushi won the The G1 Climax back in October but lost his contract to Jay White at Power Struggle the following month.
This meant that Naito would be defending his titles against White on Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom. But like a true fighting champion, Naito refused to take a night off, and agreed to face Ibushi on Night 1 with the winner going on to face Jay White for both titles on Night 2.
Ibushi’s victory means he will now defend his newly-won titles against the New Zealander.
