Update on WOW-Women of Wrestling on AXS TV

wow axs tv update impact wrestling

Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed AXS TV and WOW-Women of Wrestling are no longer working together, as the network plans to give their full attention to Impact Wrestling.

Pro Sports Extra first reported the split between the two sides.

We reached out to AXS TV about the report and were told the network is now focusing full time on IMPACT Wrestling, while WOW is exploring other distribution opportunities. We’re also told a WOW distribution announcement is expected after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

As you may recall, Anthem Sports and Entertainment (the company who owns Impact) acquired a majority interest in AXS TV in September of last year. At the time, the network was airing NJPW content and WOW. Impact then moved networks after the acquisition and months later New Japan’s relationship with AXS TV ended.

WOW-Women of Wrestling is made by David McLane, founder of the original GLOW “Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling,” and Los Angeles Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss. The first season of the show on AXS TV premiered in 2018 and received a 24-episode pickup early on due to the response it received from wrestling fans. The second season of the show ran from September-November of 2019.

I miss wow wrestling and new japan wrestling,i hope to see another network pick them up.can t stand impact wrestling, but do see some wow girls on there.

  3. I kind of knew AXS TV wouldn’t need NJPW and WOW and I’m not mad about it as I’m just glad Impact has a permanent home on AXS TV since the network owns them. Impact is so awesome on Tuesday nights really enjoying the product and the younger talent on there like The Virtuosa who just came up a couple of weeks ago.

I still miss WOW though because it was just strictly women’s wrestling. Hopefully, they’ll find a new home soon and get back on the air. It would help WOW if they would air 52 weeks a year, that’s the only thing I didn’t like about WOW they would run seasons for 3 months then be off the air for a while. They should run just like a regular company and run a show every week. The length of an hour-long I don’t mind but 2 hours would be better but I’ll take what I can get overall though.
