It now appears testimony in the libel trial pitting CM Punk and Colt Cabana against a WWE doctor could begin Tuesday.

Following a week of delays, a spokesperson at the Cook County Circuit Court says a pool of jurors will be called back Tuesday morning.  It's likely opening statements would begin at some point that day.  PWInsider reports jury selection started Thursday ahead of the holiday weekend.

The trial was originally scheduled for Monday. Over the last few days, both sides have made numerous filings and the case was reassigned to a different judge.  Pro Wrestling Sheet has reached to out attorneys for both sides but neither is commenting at this time.

A source inside the Cook County Circuit Court told us earlier this week that the sides had discussed options for settling and avoiding trial altogether.

Dr. Chris Amann is asking for $1 million in damages for disparaging comments Punk made about him on Cabana’s podcast back in 2014.

Punk alleged Amann knowingly allowed him to work through serious injuries and misdiagnosed a staph infection — among other issues. After the comments were made, WWE released a statement saying they investigated the issue and found no evidence of wrongdoing.

While all this is playing out, Punk is training for his second UFC fight on June 9 against Mike Jackson.
