Amidst a slew of cancelled or postponed events due to the possible spread of coronavirus, the City of Tampa says WrestleMania 36 is still planned to proceed on schedule at this time.

The official City of Tampa Twitter account gave an update on where things currently stand Wednesday afternoon while replying to an inquiry:

Hello, at this time [WrestleMania] is still planned to proceed on schedule. Please contact the [WWE] with questions about cancellations. The City is currently monitoring the spread of coronavirus and will work with venues as needed.

According to local reports, however, the mayor of Tampa is meeting with city officials on Thursday to further discuss canceling or postponing "major" events due to coronavirus. Therefore it's possible this could change in the next few days.

Major events recently cancelled or postponed due to concern over the spread of the virus include Coachella, Stagecoach, SXSW and E3. Concert tours for Pearl Jam, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, BTS and Mariah Carey have been cancelled or postponed as well.

WrestleMania 36 is scheduled to take place April 5.
