Stone Cold Steve Austin has clarified that his relationship with his former boss and rival Vince McMahon is in a good place these days.

The WWE Hall of Famer was celebrating his 56th birthday with a surprise appearance The Pat McAfee Show when he was asked by the show's host how he and Vince feel about each other.

Austin said the last time he spoke to Vince was back in March when he cut his infamous empty arena promo ... which he wasn't happy about.

"It sucked. It was hard," the Rattlesnake said before praising the current roster for being able to adapt without the benefit of a live crowd.

"That was the last time I got a chance to talk to him. I'm sure he's gonna call me or text me 'happy birthday' today. But man, our relationship is strong," Austin said.

"I love that guy. And I'm sure he probably loves me too," he added.

Austin did mention that when the pair were working together there was occasionally some animosity between them, but that it isn't an issue any longer.

"I got nothing but respect for the guy and we're in a real good place," he said.
