NXT Superstar Solomon Crowe is no longer employed by the WWE ... but the wrestler wasn't fired -- Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed he asked for his release from the company.

It's unclear why Crowe made the request at this time, but we're told the split was amicable and there's no bad blood on either side over the separation.

Solomon Crowe was signed to WWE in 2013 and finally debuted on TV in 2015. For some reason his push was halted shortly after. He last appeared on NXT programming in a battle royal in October.

No word on whether any of his release was filmed for WWE Breaking Ground.
