Rey Mysterio’s son has made multiple appearances on TV as of late, and the WWE star talked about the possibility of Dominick joining the company in a new interview.
Mysterio spoke with WrestlingInc’s Nick Hausman to promote his Fight4Autism campaign and was asked about what led to the decision to bring his son Dominick to TV.
Rey says Vince McMahon and Triple H were both aware Dominick had been training and when the program with Joe came about it was asked if his son was ready. The wrestler says he told them his son wasn’t ready to step in the ring just yet, but he’s very close.
Dominick joined Rey on the road afterward and they’ve started traveling together to WWE events.
When asked if he wants his son’s first wrestling contract to be with WWE, Mysterio replied:
“I think that’s gonna be a very hard call. Because what I want is very different than what he wants. So the only thing I can do is guide him and leave the answer for him to decide. And that’s what I’ve been doing for the last year or so. Just kinda feeding him points and letting him know how this works, and how this happens, and at the end of the day he’s man enough now to make a decision on his own. I can’t decide for him.”
“So I’ll put option A, B and C and I’ll say, ‘Here you go. You pick. I would do this one — me personally — but you’re the one that has to decide.’ I think he’s been guided very well. And not only by me. Konnan talks to him when he gets a chance. He’s been around this industry since he was a kid, so he’s grown up in this world. I think it’s gonna come naturally that he’ll know what to decide when that time comes.”
