It’s official! WWE Raw Women’s Champion Asuka will defend her title against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 37.
The match was added to the card after Ripley returned to Raw on March 22.
The Aussie confronted Asuka after her match against Peyton Royce and challenged her to a match on the grandest stage of them all … and Asuka was more than happy to accept.
WWE announced Rhea’s move to Mondays via a hype package last month.
Ripley would ultimately lose the title to Flair on Night 2 of WrestleMania 36. Despite that defeat, Ripley has more than earned her place on the main roster.
Rhea Ripley — real name Demi Bennett — debuted for WWE in the inaugural Mae Young Classic back in 2017. The following year she reached the final of the tournament, but lost to Io Shirai. Later in 2018, she became the first ever NXT UK Women’s Champion when she defeated fellow Australian Toni Storm in the finals of an eight woman tournament to determine the inaugural champ.
Rhea’s move to Raw makes sense as there’s nothing left for her to accomplish at NXT, and the Raw women’s roster is in desperate need of some fresh blood.
WrestleMania 37 is scheduled to take place as a two-night event on April 10 and 11, 2021 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It will stream exclusively on NBC’s Peacock platform.
Good luck on Raw, Rhea!
