Jinder Mahal‘s racially charged promo on SmackDown Live this week caused the crowd to chant “that’s too far” and now WWE is reminding everyone that their show is fiction.
The segment featured Jinder mocking Shinsuke Nakamura‘s accent and mannerisms with the Singh Brothers, they also referenced Mr. Miyagi, and it was met with bad reactions all around.
The Washington Post ran a story on what happened and when reached for comment WWE said, “Just like many other TV shows or movies, WWE creates programming with fictional personalities that cover real world issues and sensitive subjects.”
The statement continues, “As a producer of such TV shows, WWE Corporate is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”
