The winners of this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament have been determined.
The Grizzled Young Veterans faced-off against Wes Lee and Nash Carter, aka MSK, in the finals of the tournament at TakeOver: Vengeance Day.
Grizzled Young Veterans appeared to be on the verge of winning of the match, but MSK fought valiantly and were eventually able to overcome the British duo.
MSK defeated the team of Jake Atlas and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in the first round. The duo then defeated Drake Maverick and Killian Dain in the second round, and Legado Del Fantasma in the semi-finals.
The powers that be clearly have high hopes for Wentz and Xavier, and Triple H had nothing but praise for the pair in a recent interview with Ryan Satin of Fox Sports.
“These are two kids are, I think, I’m very impressed with the things that they’ve done, but I don’t know that they really had a lot of helping hand to help have them get to where they are,” he said asked by Satin what he thought of the duo.
“They just sort of figured it out on their own,” he continued. “They’ve figured out personality and charisma. They’ve figured out the in-ring style they have and made it their own. I’m a big fan of that.”
Xavier and Wentz — real names Deveon Everheart Aiken and Zachary Green — were two thirds of The Rascalz. The trio performed with numerous independent promotions as well as with Impact Wrestling.
