Hardcore wrestling fans need to lay off Roman Reigns regarding a heel turn and let "The Big Dog" be himself ... this according to The Miz in a new interview.

During an interview on the "Gorilla Position" podcast, UK-based journalist James Delow asked Miz how he'd fantasy book Roman.  His answer? He wouldn't change a thing.

"He's selling the most merch out of anybody," Miz explained. "People are going to sit there and go 'well, he should be here; he shouldn't be doing this.' Nobody knows. Nobody has a scientific formula to being the most 'over' superstar in all the WWE."

Miz pointed to the financial success of both the company and Reigns and ask Delow what exactly Roman was doing wrong.

"The hardcore fans will sit there and go 'oh well, you know, they're shoving him down our throats. How dare you do that? Blah, blah, blah.' But I guarantee there are kids out there that sit down and look at him -- there are woman out there that go 'oh my God,'" Miz added.

Despite being one of the hottest heels in WWE, Miz says the days of good guys and bad guys are over.

"Nobody likes the good 'ol fashioned Superman, you know? Nobody wants that anymore," Miz said. "Everyone wants that blend of grey and that's what we give you. I think Roman Reigns is doing a tremendous job doing that."

Miz went on to compare Reigns' reaction to that of John Cena.  He also explained he didn't think the WWE Backlash crowd was directly booing Reigns and Joe -- but rather the fact the championship match wasn't the main event.
