Matt Riddle might not be on the main roster yet, but that isn't stopping him from making a big goal for early next year. The NXT star wants to make history by winning the Royal Rumble.

Riddle discussed his Royal Rumble aspirations on the latest episode of E&C's Pod of Awesomeness.

"I know TakeOver is the same weekend as the Royal Rumble," the recent NXT signee explained. "And I'll be honest, I'm a big Rumble guy. Ya never know, there might be a spot open, maybe I can get in there ... maybe I make some history."

"I am aiming for the stars," he added. "It needs to happen."

The Royal Rumble has featured NXT wrestlers prior to their call-up in the past. Last year's match included Andrade 'Cien' Almas and Adam Cole.

Matt Riddle has also openly talked about his goal of retiring Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Could he get one step closer to that by winning the Rumble this year?
