Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston says it doesn't make sense for his on-screen character to ask for another title match due to the way he lost the belt.

Kingston and the rest of New Day were guests on the latest episode of WWE's "After the Bell" podcast where host Corey Graves asked about his loss to Brock back in October.

Kofi first joked about how he wasn't the one who set the WWE Universe in a fervor because it was not his decision to lose the belt in record time during SmackDown's FOX debut. He then reiterated that you show up for work and do what is asked of you.

The WWE Superstar also addressed being confused at the reactions he receives on social media.

"A lot of people will be on my social media and be like, 'Kofi, you're out there and you're acting like you don't care, man! You forget that you were the champion' and this and that. And I'm like, well look ... you're asking my on-screen character to be angry as if it was my real character," he said.

"And the reality ... I'm a good guy who lost in 8 seconds, so as far as making a case for a rematch .... uhhhhh, like, what would my character have to say," Kingston added. "You're wanting my real-life character to take on this anger and be mad with what happened on-screen. So it's just this weird conundrum."

As you'll recall, Brock Lesnar moved to Raw not long after defeating Kofi Kingston for the WWE title and Universal Champion Bray Wyatt was moved to SmackDown in his place.

"You can't dwell on one day," Kofi added. "There's been a lot of days that have been, I guess, negative – for lack of a better term – but if you dwell on those, then all of a sudden you're miserable. You don't want to come to work. And for me, I'm just trying to push forward."

"I appreciate the passion that people have, but I'm puzzled by the anger some people have towards me because I'm not the one who's making all of those decisions."

Xavier Woods also made one additional point on this topic during the interview.

"I think it's important for people to realize that each match is not a war. Each match, each show, each segment that a talent is given is a battle," Woods stated. "Clearly New Day is still here, currently we're tag team champions, so we haven't lost the war. The war is not over. For us, I don't know if the war ever will be over. But it's something that we are constantly fighting as much as possible and that was a battle for Kofi. It was a battle for all of us. But it's not the end of the war. So understand that New Day will always constantly fight in the fight that we have to and we will do our best to win every one that we can, but guarantee we are gunning for the war ... not the one fight."
