WWE shared an emotional video of Keith Lee talking about how his NXT title win was dedicated to his trainer who recently passed away.
The video begins with Lee talking on June 25th about how he decided to fly back to Texas to see his trainer “Killer” Tim Brooks, who was in poor health at the time.
“If it happens to be one of the last times I see him, I’m gonna inform him this match is for him,” Keith says. “He’s not just the man that trained me. He’s not just the man that educated me so well. When I had nothing, and no one, he was all I had.”
Brooks passed away days after Keith’s trip to Texas.
Following his victory over Adam Cole to become NXT Champion at The Great American Bash, Lee is shown in the video celebrating in the ring with Mia Yim. She then talks about how the match meant the world to Keith because he was honoring his late trainer.
“‘Killer’ Tim Brooks, I said lose or win, this was for you,” Keith adds. “And although you’re gone now, you spoke the truth. Today, I’m a history-maker. ‘Limitless’ Keith Lee. I love you in my heart.”
