NJPW has announced that Katsuyori Shibata sustained an injury to his spine and will not be able to continue wrestling on their current tour.

The company released a statement saying the IWGP NEVER Openweight Champion's thoracic spine is deteriorating, so they've been forced to pull him from the Destruction tour.

Shibata was scheduled to wrestle with Manabu Nakanishi, Tiger Mask and Yuji Nagata in an 8-man tag match against Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, David Finlay and Ryusuke Taguchi.

New Japan officials deeply apologized and said the card will undergo some changes to due his absence.

No word at this time on when he'll be back.
