Days after it was announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, Harley Race looked back on his career and the legacy of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
“It’s all great. No matter how you frame it, it comes out to if you were lucky enough to have held it, it’s damnable good,” Race told the current NWA Wolds Champion Nick Aldis on the latest episode of the company’s “Ten Pounds of Gold” web series.
“Performing — no matter where you’re at in the wrestling world — as Worlds Champion, you had the best in line that was at whatever particular part of the country you were in,” Race added.
In case you missed it, earlier this month, Ric Flair revealed that Race was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. However, the following day, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood promoter Dave Marquez said that although Race was diagnosed with lung cancer, it was not terminal.
