WWE Great Balls of Fire Predictions And Analysis: ‘Educated Guessing’ With James McKenna

great balls of fire predictions james mckenna analysis

GOODNESS GRACIOUS, GREAT Senior News Producer, James McKenna is back with another round of Educated Guessing and oh boy – is it time to make some hot hot Great Balls Of Fire jokes.

First of all, I need you all to do me a giant favor. During the show I will be tweeting with the hashtag #WWEBalls. Please do the same, as WWE wont use it at all and it is perfect. If somehow this trends, I’ll be the happiest person – well, at least until the Brock match.

Okay, onto the predictions.

The #WWEBalls Kickoff Match

Cruiserweight Championship

Neville (C) vs Akira Tozawa

So, we’re close to 24 hours after Austin Aries was released and 205 Live just feels like it’s lost at sea. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Neville — but with so many indie guys trying to establish a personality, a lot ends up lost in translation. Their apparent flavor of the week for now is Akira Tozawa who, aside from Titus, has struggled to obtain a large personality of his own. Until WWE figures out a long term plan to establish big personalities on 205, expect the status quo to stay.

Educated Guess: Neville

#WWEBalls Main Card

Enzo Amore vs Big Cass

I don’t think my pick here is going to shock anyone. It’s very well known that Enzo is around for his mouth and Cass is around for the exact opposite. I would expect a mauling on our hands to establish the big man as a force to be reckoned with in the coming months.

Educated Guess: Big Cass

Intercontinental Championship

The Miz (C) vs Dean Ambrose

Miz and Ambrose feel revived since coming over to Raw, but I would really just prefer if this thing ended — and I think #WWEBalls is the perfect place to get it over with. The Miz has been riding high with his recent Miztourage additions and Dean could stand to benefit with a shift. Honestly, as Seth Rollins is feeling a bit stale, I think he and Ambrose teaming again to take on a heel duo would make the most sense in the future.

What doesn’t make sense at this point would be taking the IC title off of Miz.

Educated Guess: The Miz

Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt

This is the one match on the card where I think we’ll be getting a few surprises. Reason being is that it’s #WWEBalls and there’s not an “all eyes on us” mentality. To be honest, it’s a setup pay per view.

Now, I know they just handed Rollins the 2K18 cover and want to push that as much as possible, but they need something that’s going to give Wyatt vs Rollins legs for another few months (or at least until SummerSlam). Giving Bray a big Sunday night win over the Kingslayer would do just that.

Educated Guess: Bray Wyatt

Raw Tag Team Championship

Cesaro & Sheamus (C) vs The Hardy Boyz

First of all – Jeff is 39, Matt is 42. Can we stop using Boyz with a Z, pleaseeeeeee?

Aside from that, their return to WWE has been fantastic in my opinion. And so far they are being used correctly by getting a team like Cesaro and Sheamus over. Two great workers that have always had a bit of an issue getting a personality to resonate with the crowd are now hitting home runs with their “WE ARE THE BAR” schtick. A big part of that has been having a legend team like the Hardys to bounce off of.

I expect this match to cap the feud and get both teams off to their next storylines.

Educated Guess: Cesaro & Sheamus

Raw Women’s Championship

Alexa Bliss (C) vs Sasha Banks

Alexa forever. I adore Alexa Bliss as champion and would be ok if she kept the title until wrestling as we know it ended (or at least until Asuka gets promoted). I honestly do not see a single thing in the Raw women’s scene shifting until SummerSlam at the very earliest. Little Miss Bliss holds on for another day due to underhanded tactics.

Educated Guess: Sasha Banks by DQ

Ambulance Match

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

Well, we didnt predict an ambulance match, but we literally told you this was going to happen. Braun is back “early” and he’s looking to put Roman in a world of hurt. Fortunately, I think WWE learned from their initial mistake of letting Roman beat Braun off the bat and are now planning to show that the Monster Among Men is truly a beast.

Roman’s gotta be going for a ride.

Educated Guess: Braun Strowman

Universal Championship

Brock Lesnar (C) vs Samoa Joe

*heavy sigh*

I wish I was happier about this match. I love that it’s a dream match you could only see in a video game up until now. Joe has had great storylines over the past few weeks and they have legit made him someone to be feared.

Unfortunately, we all know that Brock is going to be champion for far too long. Hell, I would argue he is making it to WrestleMania 34 with the belt. Therefore, unless something big changes, you’ll be seeing Brock rack up wins for the foreseeable future. Buckle up.

Educated Guess: Brock Lesnar
