WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco took to Twitter this morning to clear up the rumor that he was laid off by the company.

Brisco tweeted the following to clarify he's been furloughed, not released:

"What a writer made a mistake, to set things right. I have not been let go yet I’ve been placed on furlough don’t know who leaked the wrong news. I hope get back to helping young folks find there dream. If not it been on heck of a run #cantkeepawrestlerdown"

As you'll recall, WWE announced a large round of layoffs this month which included many notable on-screen talent and producers. Brisco has been with WWE since 1984, working largely behind the scenes. Perhaps most notably, he is responsible for scouting talent like Brock Lesnar.

Despite the clarification about his WWE status, the 73-year-old is still keeping his ear to the ground.  "Options, options, options open minded," he additionally tweeted.
