Brock Lesnar shocked the wrestling world when he ended The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania XXX ... but according to Michelle McCool, the streak came close to ending six years earlier!

In a new interview with the New York Post, The Undertaker's wife says there was talk of Edge defeating the Dead Man at WrestleMania 24.  It turns out, however, "The Rated-R-Superstar" was the one who shot it down.

"I remember a few years prior at WrestleMania [24] versus Edge, they talked about Edge breaking the streak and it was Edge that was actually like 'That makes zero sense. I don't want to do that. Why would I do that? The fans already love him. What's it going to do for Edge,' McCool explained.

The former WWE star went on to say Edge was the only recent Superstar ever in discussion to break the streak until Lesnar – which she found out about late in the afternoon on the day of the event.

"I couldn't believe it. I don't think it needed to happen," she said. "But Mark [Calaway] was fine with it. People don't understand he's gonna do business. He understands that business is business."

McCool is featured in the upcoming five-part limited series "The Last Ride," chronicling the last few years of The Undertaker's career. The first episode is set to premiere Sunday, immediately following Money in the Bank on WWE Network.
