Edge has been retired since 2011, but following a bit of physicality at SummerSlam the WWE Hall of Famer says he believes he could wrestle one more match.
On the latest episode of E & C’s Pod of Awesomeness, the wrestlers reflected on SummerSlam weekend in Toronto. Christian says he was not clued in on the fact that Edge would be making an in-ring appearance during a segment with Elias, or hitting a spear.
Edge explained that this was because he only learned it was happening 15 minutes before the show. He also said he does his own stunts when acting, including a few spears, which is why he was comfortable being physical in the ring with his neck injury.
“When I first found out, and with my retirement speech, I said what I knew at that point. I’ve since learned a lot more and know what my limitations ACTUALLY are,” said Edge. “Hitting a spear isn’t one of them.”
“To be perfectly honest, I think I could do a match tomorrow,” the former WWE champ continued. “I might be blown up but I’d be okay. It’s just from what I know with the WWE medical staff, they won’t allow. It is what it is, right?”
Edge also says he had a doctor tell him he could get his neck “relatively” healthy within 5 years and that he’s looking into stem cell treatments.
“Just from the stuff I’ve experienced in the last eight years and the things I’ve done physically, it’s like ‘I could pull off one.’ I’m not saying I go back and do a year’s worth,” he added.
