WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan is attempting to downplay how much behind-the-scenes influence he has within the company.

Speaking to talkSPORT's Alex McCarthy, Bryan implied that talk of his backstage influence has been greatly exaggerated.

"It’s interesting because, one, I don’t have that big of a say," he said while chuckling. "Sometimes something really great will happen on SmackDown and somebody will say ‘oh, that’s Daniel Bryan!’ Like, that’s not me!"

It's well known that the former WWE Champion attends production meetings, but if the man himself is to be believed, his creative input goes no further than occasionally suggesting which Superstars should be utilized.

“One part is our performers – we have incredible superstars. Cesaro is a no-brainer. When you say ‘Daniel Bryan helped Cesaro’ – no. All I did was say ‘hey this guy is really good. We should put him on TV and use him!’" he said.

“Apollo Crews, I don’t have anything to do with Apollo Crews stuff. He’s just great!"

The WrestleMania main-eventer then confessed that he gets a kick out of seeing the success of the Superstars he endorses.

“But it is rewarding to see people that you know are talented get opportunities and knock it out of the park. There’s a certain joy to that."

In case you missed it, Daniel Bryan was added to the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 37. He will take on Royal Rumble winner Edge, and defending champ Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat match.

WrestleMania 37 is streaming live on April 10 and April 11, beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT exclusively on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network everywhere else.
