AEW President Tony Khan teased that one of the top independent wrestlers in the world would be on Dynamite this week to challenge for the TNT title and tonight they were revealed.

Dynamite kicked off with Cody and Arn Anderson already in the ring for his title defense.

Independent wrestler Eddie Kingston then interrupted the announcement with a promo about his rough upbringing and how Tony Khan paid him to come beat Cody up. He also coaxed Cody into making it a no-disqualification match.

At one point in the match, Rhodes got powerbombed through thumbtacks.

It was not enough to defeat the champion though ... as Cody retained after locking in a Figure Four leglock for the submission victory.
