CM Punk answered the million dollar question everyone has wanted to know since his appearance last week on WWE Backstage ... could we see him back in a WWE ring anytime soon?

The question was asked during a segment involving the former WWE champ explaining to Renee Young how things came together with his new gig on WWE Backstage.

Punk noted that this is "strictly a me and FOX thing," not him returning to WWE, and that he's hoping that maybe this is something he can do to find his way in the business again.

"There's a lot of stuff that's broken," he continued. "And I think what the product, what the show needs and what the fans need is somebody without those ties of worry about if they're gonna get punished for saying something, just to tell it like it is."

Adding, "Nobody is gonna fire me. I'm not gonna get jobbed out, suspended, sent to TV but told I'm not needed. All these things don't exist in my world anymore."

The interview ended with Renee asking Punk if we could see him in a WWE ring in the future. This is was his response, in full:

"So, regardless of what my answer is, there's somebody that's always going to be upset with it. As I've said, I've stated I work for FOX. I haven't talked to anybody in WWE. It's nothing that I'm actively pursuing or interested in, but I'm 41-years-old and I've experienced life where I know to not say 'no.' But that's gonna be a bridge that is gonna have to be built and it might take as long as building the Great Wall of China because there are hurdles there."
