The Swiss Superman Cesaro says he's going under the knife this afternoon to fix his injured shoulder ... and the surgery could keep him out of action for 4-6 months.

Cesaro told WWE.com he's been injured for over 2 months, but assumed the problem wasn't serious and only got an MRI to help figure out how he could properly get his shoulder back to 100%.

Turns out doctors said he completely tore a tendon, and partially tore another, which means surgery would be required to repair his shoulder.

The wrestler says his official timetable for a return would be 4-6 months -- but it all depends on how well the surgery and rehab process goes.

Cesaro adds, "I just want to come back as soon as possible. I felt I was building a lot of momentum, and that was all thanks to the fans. I really appreciate all the support I’ve gotten and I’ve felt that the Cesaro Section is finally rising and it’s becoming undeniable … and then, of course, this happens."

Get well soon.
