Daniel Bryan and John Cena are reportedly refusing to appear at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia and WWE has now (kinda-sorta) issued a statement on the matter.

Barstool Sports' Robbie Fox first dropped the news on Twitter this week saying the two wrestlers informed management that they will not be working the event.

So far we've confirmed with sources that Daniel did indeed tell management he will not work the event due to the Saudi government's reported involvement in the death of Jamal Khashoggi. No confirmation on the Cena side of things, including from one of his representatives, but Robbie Fox says the wrestler/actor will not be on the show either.

A rep for WWE replied to our request for comment on the matter saying: "As always, we maintain an open line of communication with our performers and will address each situation accordingly.”

We tried finding out if this means Daniel will not be required to work the event, but couldn't get verification from WWE.

As we previously reported, WWE announced on Thursday that the event will continue on as planned. As of this writing, Daniel is still being advertised in a match against AJ Styles for the WWE Championship and John Cena is still listed as a competitor in the World Cup.
