Cain Velasquez is leaving the MMA world behind him after signing a multi-year WWE contract.

ESPN's Marc Raimondi reports Velasquez signed a "lucrative" WWE contract and has notified UFC of his decision to retire from active competition. WWE later confirmed the report.

Velasquez made his WWE debut during last week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. His first match with the company will be against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia later this month. That same event will also feature a match between Braun Strowman and Tyson Fury, which is reportedly a one-off venture for the British boxer ... at least for now.

Cain first brushed with pro wrestling back in July '18 during a guest training session at the WWE Performance Center. A little over one year later, Velasquez got the wrestling community talking after competing in a few impressive matches in AAA.
