Bret Hart Says He Helped Coach Edge Prior to “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever”

On the latest episode of WWE Backstage, Bret Hart revealed he helped coach Edge prior to his match against Randy Orton at Backlash.

Speaking with Renee Young and CM Punk, Hart said Edge was a little uncomfortable with the idea of having the “greatest” match of all-time … so he came to him for advice.

Bret explained the promotion of the match would be a “tough pair of shoes for anybody to fill,” but the advice he gave to Edge is advice he gives to others too.

“The Excellence of Execution” then said that before his own matches he always tried to envision the match from the eyes of himself sitting in the front row and attempt to impress that young fan in him who would be watching – so Edge should do the same.

Hart also said Edge texted him after saying he was happy with the outcome because he did just that.

In case you missed it, Edge suffered torn triceps in the match which required him to undergo surgery.
