Despite being a last minute replacement in the match, Braun Strowman defeated Goldberg at WrestleMania to become the new Universal Champion.

As you'll recall ... Roman Reigns was initially slotted to participate in the match, but the wrestler pulled out due to coronavirus related concerns. Strowman was subsequently announced as his replacement during Friday Night SmackDown this week without much fanfare.

The match between the two went down Saturday night and began with Goldberg making his signature walk to the ring from his locker room. Goldberg hit three spears early on in the match, but Strowman kicked out. He then hit another and attempted the Jackhammer, but Braun reversed it and hit multiple powerslams. The fourth powerslam ended with Strowman pinning Goldberg to win the title.

This is Braun Strowman's first Universal Championship win. He formerly held the Intercontinental Championship and Raw Tag Team titles. He's also a former Money in the Bank holder.
