Asuka Says Vince McMahon Hugged Her After Championship Win at WWE TLC

vince mcmahon asuka tlc win hug

Vince McMahon is known to be a tough critic, but Asuka says the chairman was very happy this weekend after the first women’s TLC match.

The new SmackDown Women’s champ told Tokyo Sports (via rough translation) that Vince hugged her after the title win and said he was really happy because it was a good match.

For those who missed it, Asuka climbed the ladder to defeat Becky Lynch/Charlotte Flair following interference from Ronda Rousey to win her first main roster title.

Now that she’s captured the title though, Asuka has her eyes set on WrestleMania. Telling Tokyo Sports that she wants to successfully defend the title at WM35 so that she can still hold the belt when WWE returns to Japan.

“The reason why I came to WWE is raising the quality of girls,” Asuka explained while talking about her upcoming reign. “I want to make girls more recognizable, that is my mission.”

    “What is she doing?”
    ” I believe she’s trying to give you a hug Mr. McMahon… ”
    “Asians hug?”
    ” …yes. ”
    “Ah!”
    *Most awkward hug ever*

  2. Cool. I think Asuka being champion will benefit the other women on SD who aren’t on the level of her, Flair, and Becky. Working with her can help them grow. My only fear is that she won’t have any real competition once Becky and probably Flair leave for Raw. Hopefully they trade over Sasha and Ember to SD just so they can still higher caliber womens matches on the blue brand

  3. Vince to Asuka: “I’m sorry for teaming you with Naomi.”

If the WWE is going to Japan not too long after Wrestlemania, it’s a good bet Asuka will either still be the champion, or will be challenging whoever the new champion is.
