Ex-WWE and Impact Wrestling star Alberto El Patron has announced he's planning on returning to MMA next year.

Patron made the announcement on the latest episode of The MMA Hour and said he's looking to fight for Combate Americas in '19 with hopes of having a "super-fight" in Mexico City.

As for why, he explained: "Watching these guys ... watching these kids ... these amazing fighters going toe-to-toe every single month and now twice a month, it made me feel hungry about fighting again." He also said it's because he doesn't like the direction the pro wrestling business is going.

Patron and Campbell McLaren claim they're already in talks with an opponent, but wouldn't say who.

The controversial wrestler served as the president for Combate Americas from October '16 to July '17 and is still featured as an announcer/ambassador to help the promotion gain additional exposure.

Alberto started fighting in '01 and competed outside of the United States. He lost his last professional fight in '10 by TKO and left the sport with a 9-5 career record.
