We're afraid we've got some bad news ... Wade Barrett is no longer a WWE Superstar -- the wrestler says management agreed to let him out of his contract early.

Pro Wrestling Sheet exclusively reported back in February that Barrett informed WWE officials he wouldn't be signing a new deal and planned to exit the company in June.

However ... Wade released a statement moments ago on Twitter that says, "I made a decision not to re-sign back in August last year once my current contract expired in June 2016, and I've now reached an agreement with management to dissolve the contract a few weeks early."

He adds, "As planned, I am now taking a well-earned break from the wrestling industry to expand my horizons, but I'll be back in the ring when the time is right."

Barrett's exit comes on the same day that releases were handed out to Santino Marella, Alex Riley, Cameron, Hornswoggle and more.  The full list can be found here.
