If you voted for Samoa Joe to team up with Bayley on WWE's upcoming Mixed Match Challenge, you wasted a vote -- because he's out of the competition due to an injury.
Kurt Angle tweeted on Tuesday saying, "Thank you all for voting for [Bayley's] partner in #WWEMMC, but due to an injury suffered on #Raw [Samoa Joe] is unable to compete ... therefore the runner-up [Elias] will be Bayley’s partner."
Joe defeated Rhyno last night on Raw, then announced he'd be in the Royal Rumble during an in-ring promo ... specifically setting his sights on John Cena.
However, WWE.com reports that he felt a pop in his right foot during the match and now he needs to get it checked out. Dr. Chris Amann was quoted saying, "We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections.”
Sources tell us the injury is legit and not a work that was announced for storyline purposes. We're also told he currently needs crutches to move around.
According to Google, recovery time is 2-12 weeks if confirmed via MRI.
