WWE Announces Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal Name Change

fabulous moolah wrestlemania battle royal name change

WWE says “after further consideration” they will be changing the name of the upcoming Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34.

A rep for WWE says, “After further consideration, we believe it’s best to proceed with the name ‘WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.’  What remains most important is that this historic match is part of WWE’s unwavering commitment to the Women’s Division.”

As we previously reported, there was major backlash following the announcement this week due to former Moolah trainees accusing her of things such as taking money from women and pimping them out for sex work … which was echoed by former trainee Mad Maxine.

In addition, Deadspin reached out to the parent company of Snickers — who are sponsoring WrestleMania 34 — and they released the following statement:

We were recently made aware of the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc’s (WWE) decision to honor a former wrestler during the upcoming WrestleMania 34 event. As a principle-based business that has long championed creating inclusive environments that encourage and empower everyone to reach their full potential, this is unacceptable. We are engaging with the WWE to express our disappointment.

The video of the original announcement from Raw this week disabled comments this morning as well, which was a clear sign WWE had seen the negative reactions.

We’ll keep you updated with any further developments.

  • Louis

Great job by you, Ryan. Just made no sense to have this named after Moolah with her shady background.

    • A.K

Great job by the thousands of FANS who reached out directly to the sponsors of WrestleMania with countless mails expressing their disdain. Not Satin, he just reported the news.

      • Louis

        Shut the fuck up.

        • A.K

Why, ruined your little cocksucking glory hour by stating a fact?

          • Louis

What fact you dumbass. Ryan was the first one to get quotes from Mad Maxine yesterday and that made news all over social media. Today, WWE took the heat.

That is due to Ryan. Not a bunch of dick suckers like you on a petition site.

            So, FUCK YOU.

          • A.K

Done guzzling? It wasn’t a petition, they contacted the sponsors through their site. NOT through a pathetic petition made in a span of 2 minutes that no one in the higher-ups would notice. These were direct mails from the consumers. Are you really THAT daft?

          • Louis

            Eat my balls you puta.

          • Louis

And stop upvoting yourself you dweeb.

    • Mark Ritz

there was a whole reddit thread telling folks to reach out to the sponsors and they did, this is the result of that. good job by the fans for once

      • Louis

Fuck reddit and fuck you, bitch.

        • Mark Ritz

Not stooping down to such idiocy. Have a nice day.

          • Louis

            Fuck off.

          • ‘Stud Muffin’ Victor Meldrew

Are you having your time of the month today???

          • Louis

Como yo te digo, quiero bailar contigo.

Porque tu eres bello why quiero sentir tu calor.

  • Danny Fullpint

Can we now nix Dana Warrior now that we got this out of the way?

  • AlphaGamingNerd

    thanks sjws

    • David Jones

      You’re welcome

    • A.K

The people defending that filth just because she’s female are the real SJWs here.

  • Graves

Why not just call it the Mae Young Memorial Battle Royal?

    • MsFan12

They had the Mae Young Classic last year

    • SloopJohn232

They don’t have to name every thing after Mae Young. I’d prefer the Sherri Martel Memorial Battle Royal.

    • Kira Kanashimi

I think Mildred Burke Memorial Battle Royal sounds pretty good.

  • MsFan12

Snickers was about to pull their sponsorship until the name change. Money talks. 😉

    • MariosG1987

They wouldn`t care to make any change otherwise…!!

  • Killer Elite Scott

Sucks that WWE gave into this.

    • http://www.google.com krossoverking

      Why? That bitch was evil.

      • Killer Elite Scott

        Do you have proof?

        • Mark Ritz

You’re just going to brush off the many women who came forward with their accusations regarding her?

          • Killer Elite Scott

I have no idea if what has been said about Moolah is true or not. What I do know is that Moolah was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995 and I have yet to hear people calling for her removal. Also nobody called for her removal from WWE when she worked there in 1998 – 2007. So why now? Maybe because we’re in the era of #MeToo.

          • Louis

The thing is this was a story written on an online news site in 2006. Moolah passed away in 2007. The story took a few years to pick up traction but it was already too late because Moolah had passed away.

          • Killer Elite Scott

Even though I am not for it, but since WWE has removed Moolah’s name from the battle royal because of all of this, they might as well publicly remove her from their Hall of Fame. No wait, erase her from wrestling history.

          • Lou DiFigliano

Nah. I support changing the name of the battle royal and not honoring her further in the future. But, they might as well leave her in the HOF.

          • Lou DiFigliano

There was also a documentary made about it… Used to be on Netflix.

          • Louis

I found out about this Moolah story about a year ago. There was a story from a place call Free Times dated back in 2006 that a buddy of mine sbowed me. It was a feature story and it basically told Moolah life story and the pimp scam she ran on a lot of young women.

          • Lou DiFigliano

I wanna say I found out around when she died. I’m glad the battle royal has been renamed. I don’t really have aproblem with her in the HOF… Basically, because she’s already in and it seems silly to me to take someone out. I mean OJ is still in the football HOF…. Bit, no further awards or events should be named after her.

          • Tony Montana

            This

        • http://www.google.com krossoverking

I was one of her victims..

    • A.K

Did you say the same crap when Weinstein and Kevin Spacey got exposed as well? SJW filth.

  • Eileen Creole

At least we have been spared an epic atrocity like the Warrior nonsense .Don’t get me wrong the recipients of the awards are inspiring and lovely but honoring that messed dude was pretty wack

    • Tony Montana

Fuck? Honoring the warrior is not a bad thing. At this rate, they shouldn’t honor Anybody. Because God forbid there not be a perfect person in the world that deserves to be included.

      • Eileen Creole

Noone Is perfect but I think there are better candidates than warrior ,imo

  • A.K

Good, now do the same for the Warrior Award.
The intention is very good (empowering people who battled life-threatening illnesses) but name it after someone else.

    • Elaine House

They need to. It should have been named after little conmoC in the first place

    • Eddie Ladnier

There is a difference between pimping women out and hurting your feelings with an opinion or two.

  • Kira Kanashimi

    Moolah was a cunt.

  • Thomas Hames

They should of called it the miss elizabeth battle royal

    • PurpleHaze

      Sponsored by Loratab

  • Michael Donelon

So, is there actually any proof that she did any of this or is it all just people saying she did this?

  • Tony Montana

If you (the whiners) didn’t like it, get out. Nobody put a gun to their head and mde them train with her lol. You have a choice, she didn’t kidnap them and make them prostitute themselves. This is bullshit of WWE to back down and give in to what the New generation weakness has become.
No, you don’t have a voice.

  • Marc Jackson

She’s not a piece of shit. It amazes me how people can see someone in one light then read something or start listening to other people. Then all the sudden you act like this person broke your heart. Lol someone that you don’t even know and never knew you is just dead to you now. They don’t even know you exist. 😄

  • Marc Jackson

I don’t really see the point of changing the name of the Battle Royal because her legacy in wrestling will still stand no matter what. Everything else is a footnote if that to her wrestling legacy.

  • PurpleHaze

I suppose this means there will be no Superfly Jimmy Snuka Memorial inner gender Texas Death match next year.
