Popular Japanese women’s wrestler Io Shirai appeared at WWE's live event in Tokyo on Saturday to confirm she signed a deal with the company.

Shirai announced she'd be joining the NXT roster and WWE followed it up with a story on their website touting her signing/past accomplishments.

After the appearance, Io tweeted a picture of her mask featuring a WWE logo and the caption translates to "a new step."

As we previously reported, Shirai departed Stardom last month to join WWE.

As you may recall, Shirai had a WWE tryout in March of last year but reportedly failed her medical exam and was not offered a contract around the same time.

The big question now is whether she'll compete in the second Mae Young Classic tournament. With tapings set for early August, it would certainly make sense.

Check out a few videos/photos of her appearance below.
