Honorary WWE Superstar Drax Shadow battled cancer for six long years … but Pro Wrestling Sheet is sad to report that the young fan passed away Sunday night.
Shadow’s parents shared the news on Facebook early this morning saying, “We are hurt, and devastated! Good Bye Drax Shadow! We will miss you dearly! Go find Connor your wrestling buddy and give him a hug!”
Shadow–real name Elijah Mainville–was nine-years-old and suffered from Neuroblastoma, a cancer that forms in the nerve cells of an embryo or fetus. He was signed to WWE in a special ceremony following an August 2015 episode of RAW.
His death is being felt across the industry, with numerous current and ex WWE Superstars sharing their condolences. Of particular note, Shadow’s favorite wrestler Cody Rhodes tweeted, “Thank-you Elijah. You taught me bravery. (I know there’s a certain cowboy waiting for you in the sky…)”
